The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.

Your love never fails
It never gives up
It never runs out on me
Have you ever thought about this? Have you ever sat down and really examined how deep the Father’s love for us is? I know I fail to do it far too often. I feel like sometimes I am fighting for people’s love and affection but the truth is that no matter how hard we try, people will disappoint us. That's life. I know I have disappointed those around me many times. We don’t do it intentionally but sometimes it happens. Luckily, this never happens with God! I like to imagine God as standing in front of me with his arms wide open, no matter what the circumstance. He can forgive us for any transgression if we ask and still love us. Amazing!
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

SB11

Spring break is always one of my favorite weeks of the year. Whether its laying on a beach or skiing in the snow I love having no school and I love spending time with my family and friends even more J This year brought a trip to Colorado and I got to bring my sweet friend, Katie! Let me back up…Friday night brought the Houston rodeo! Michelle and I wanted to show our roomies from Chicago what a Texas rodeo looks like. We saw all the cows, pigs, chickens, etc. and they even ate some Texas sausage (I stuck to my chicken strips). We watched all the cowboys during the events, with our favorites being the calf scramble and mutton bustin’. The evening ended with a great performance from Lady Antebellum.

Saturday was the looong drive to CO, but well worth it once we got there. The week consisted of many runs down the mountain, multiple hours of family game night/random card games, two cute snowmen, lots of laughter, a blast through the past with homeward bound, a great tubing hill, wonderful views, hours of big bang theory, great “breaks” halfway down the slopes, good conversation, hot tub time, a snowboarding lesson, and a broken wrist.

I would love to tell you that I was doing something really exciting or daring when it happened, like perfecting my backflip off the jump in the terrain park but I wasn’t. I was just taking a lesson and fell the wrong way. My instructor told me it wasn’t broken so I waited a while to go to the medic but it was in fact fractured and I had it re-broken or set back in place. My mom’s comment to all of this was that we are taking a cruise next year! I couldn’t ski the rest of the week but I had fun doing other things such as shopping in Breckenridge. Here is the before and after.

We got back to LJ and I got to have breakfast with my two best friends, which was exactly what I needed. Overall Spring Break was great! Sorry for the long post and so many pictures; I have a pretty slow week school-wise J

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling thru
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true

Oh the places you'll go...

"Oh the places you'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with that ball will make you the winning-est winner of all."
-Dr. Seuss
This cake is from our "Senior Sunday" at church in May of 2009. I remember at this point in my life that I had a great group of friends, a wonderful family, a youth group that I really enjoyed, and an overall very comfortable routine. I had decided to go to Texas A&M and was excited to start a new journey in my life, but at the same time was scared to death to leave everything that I knew to be so easy and right. This Dr. Seuss quote was the theme of our lunch that day and I can remember them telling us that we had a lot to learn, a lot of people to meet, and a lot more life ahead of us.

I have really enjoyed college and all that comes with it so far. I have met so many amazing people who I'm sure will be life-long friends. I have really been challenged in my faith yet I have also grown in leaps and bounds in this same area. College has consisted of many road trips, late night studying sessions, dance parties, food (spoons!), a lot of laughter, and so much more. People tell me that this type of experience is once in a lifetime and I will never have another time like this again. I want to savor every moment of it!

Time flies and I can't believe that I have already been here for almost two years. While I enjoy looking forward to what is to come (like the quote above says), I also miss what was. I really loved high school and miss many aspects about freshman year and living in the dorms. Basically to sum it all up, I can't wait for the future and I am so thankful for my past but really I am just happy where I am today! I will leave you with another Seuss quote and some more pictures.

"How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?"
-Dr. Seuss
